Older people in care have often been prominent and important people in our local communities and it is important that we treat them with respect. Alive! aims to make older people feel important again by enabling them to connect with other residents, staff and the wider community, thereby improving their quality of life. Care homes often have limited resources in providing creative activities and Alive! aims to help as many older people as possible through our workshops.
As a result of our work, care home residents feel more relaxed, happy, comfortable and re-engaged with their hobbies, interests and passions. They also benefit from being treated as individuals with different needs and skills. Residents also find it easier to engage in social interactions with each other during and after our sessions. As well as this, through our training sessions, care home staff are able to develop skills in providing activity sessions themselves.
Our use of iPads means that care home residents can engage with the newest technology in order to stimulate their creativity and aid reminiscence. We use apps and the internet in group settings and 1-2-1 to allow care home residents to create art, make music or view video clips which they remember from their youth. read more
