Art Therapy for individuals and groups suffering poor mental health, social anxiety and isolation.
To improve the lives of people suffering from poor mental health by offering group and individual therapy in the community. This is appropriate to many life issues around transitions, major life changes, anxiety isolation and depression. Art Therapy is also particularly efficacious with those hard to reach hard to treat, trauma related individuals. ATY exists as a safe regulated platform formed to access funding to enable our therapists to provide this much needed service.
Why the community needs usArt Therapy Yorkshire is very much based in our local community, with our therapists and trustees all based locally. We offer our therapy sessions in the new Community and Voluntary sector building in the centre of Scarborough 'The Street'. We are also able to offer a mobile service within North Yorkshire , able to access rural and hard to reach areas. We currently work with the Peoples Health Trust, Awards for All and in schools .
Our impact on the communityWe have worked with many groups across the range of physical and mental disabilities and conditions. Our long term projects have helped many overcome stigma, and personal fears to become more actively engaged with society and with other group members. We have developed a unique program called Arttalking 2 which works across cultural barriers to take Art therapy into the community, and brings community into art therapy.
