The Artventure Trust is a creative day centre for adults with learning difficulties

The Artventure Trust Ltd is a registered charity and a limited company, established in 1984 and incorporated in February 2005. Artventure aims to enable adults with learning difficulties explore the visual and on occaions the performing arts,in a safe and secure envoirment. Our member make friends and gain self-confidence. The Trust is based in their own modular building (purchased with a Lottery grant), on land leased from St Peter's School in Merrow, Guildford.

Why the community needs this charity

Many of our participants live in shelted accommodation. Coming to Artventure they can meet and make new friends. Their carers and parents can have much needed respite knowing their are being well looked after. We also have volunteers, some of whom are out of work or have problems making if difficult for them to find employment. Working with at Artventure, they gain experience and confidence.

Results and outcomes

Our main target is that our members are able to enjoy themselves, try new art-based activities and explore new and different materials. Also, to make new friends and build confidence in their artwork as well as themselves, this also helps promote self-esteem. We also have students on work experience, and unemployed volunteers. Our outcomes are measured by feed back from members, carers and of course the work produced.

Latest activities and projects

Summer workshop with the theme of the Olympics

At our summer workshop, we start a new theme to work around. This theme will be carried on then for the rest of the year culminating in an exhibition next spring or summer. This year we would like to work around the idea of the Olympics. This will help our members feel part of the nations celebrations in the coming year. We will be making sculptors, prints, paintings, and ceramics. Using different materials including old sports equipment.  read more
