Celtic Harmony was established in 1998 with a mission to improve well being through an understanding of our natural and ancient cultural heritage, building a more sustainable and healthier way of life in harmony with nature. We achieve this through a unique outdoor education programme, which use Celtic culture as an unusual and memorable hook on which to hang a bigger understanding of Ancient Britain and the natural environment.
Why the community needs usDemand for Celtic Harmony's educational programme is ever increasing. There has been a 37% annual increase in the number of primary schools and community groups visiting us in 2014, to an estimated 10,000 and numbers are forecast to increase to 16,929 in 2015. However our current facilities are too small to accommodate larger numbers safely and comfortably, putting the future of this unique learning facility at risk.
Our impact on the communityAs a result, we intend to build a new hands on Education Centre of Ancient Britain at the Celtic Harmony Camp (encompassing an Arts amphitheatre for performances, exhibitions, artefacts handling and art & crafts, enabling us to offer a distinctive and creative indoor learning space to complement our outdoor facilities, improving the visitor's experience and enabling more people, both young and old, to take part in a vibrant programme of hands-on experiences and events.
We need volunteers to help out in an admin, marketing and fundraising in the office in Welwyn. We also need education volunteers to help with the school trips or as part of our Conservation Team that meets weekly. www.celticharmony.org/get-inv
