The 999 Club - helping society's most disadvantaged

The 999 Club aims to offer immediate help in any situation as well as long term support to the most disadvantaged members of society - the homeless, the addicted, those with mental health issues, ex offenders, vulnerable children and the elderly.
Why the community needs this charity

We are based in 2 of the 4 most deprived neighbourhoods in Lewisham, itself one of the most deprived Local Authority areas in England. Local people suffer great disadvantage and we provide the last safety net for those fallen from mainstream society

Results and outcomes

We see 5,000 people a year and we get many into hostels, permanent accomodation, detoxification, rehabilitation, help with debt, clothes, access benefits, find employment and education, achieve mental stability and return to independent living

We will operate a night shelter 7 days a week for 14 weeks commencing December 2012. We will offer 25 beds per night. Our guests are given supper, watch the TV like any normal family gruop and then have a nights sleep followed by a light breakfast. No drugs or alcohol are allowed on the premises. Throughout the duration we work with housing and homeless agencies such as Bench Outreach to get people into accomodation read more
