We provide a wide range of Adult Education Classes, Community Cafe, a Pre-School Nursery and access to a range of health related services. We also provide opportunities for volunteering and facilities that can be hired for social occasions. By working in partnership with Sure Start, local schools and the Huthwaite Community Action Group, we are able to make a real difference to Huthwaite and the lives of local residents.
Over 200 learners benefited from a range of Adult Education Courses last term. 35 people regularly attend our Over 60's Lunch Club. Our Baby & Toddler Group has a weekly attendance of 30+ parents. The Baby Cafe runs alongside the Health Visitors' Baby Clinic and provides free refreshments to parents and children who stay to chat and find out about other Centre related services and opportunities. Community groups including Scouting Groups, Dance, Karate, Combat Aerobics attract large numbers.
Run by volunteers, the Community Cafe acts as a gateway to the services on offer in our Community Centre. It also incorporates a Baby Cafe & Over 60's Lunch Club. Many people only access these services as a result of visiting the Cafe and chatting to volunteers and other users. With a soft play area for under 5's the Cafe offers healthy, freshly cooked meals & snacks at affordable prices and is especially attractive to parents with young children who feel isolated. read more
We are always looking for volunteers to help in the kitchen of our Community Cafe. It is helpful if you have a current Food Safety Level 2 Certificate, but not essential as we can arrange training. We also have a volunteer run Baby & Toddler Group which sometimes needs extra volunteers. Satisfactory CRB checks are required.
