Keeping over 100 years of bowling alive.

We aim to safeguard the future of all public flat green bowling facilities in Darlington. Following Local Authority cuts many of the public bowling greens were threatened with closure. Darlington Parks Bowling Association (DPBA) has taken over the management and maintenance of these greens to provide public areas for the sport.

Why the community needs this charity

Through the work of DPBA, members of the community have an outdoor facility, enabling them to partake in a pleasurable and healthy passtime. Approximately 300 members of the community use the environmentally friendly and well maintained facilities, advancing health and providing social opportunities.

Results and outcomes

Without the establishment of DPBA many of the bowling greens in Darlington would have faced closure. Flat green bowling in Darlington, not only acts as a way to encourage health and fitness, it also provides members with an opportunity to socialise with like minded people of all ages.
