Why they need our service

Cambridge Link-Up are participating in World Homeless Day because we want to raise awareness (and much needed funds!) of the issue of homelessness in Cambridge. The city is known for its wealth, history and university but for the over 400 homeless people who live here - there is a very different story to be told.

Plan and expected results

The homeless community have really pulled together to make this event a success. We hope to raise much-needed funds of course - our coffers are empty! But even more importantly the event has created new friendships, motivation and enjoyment for all those who have given their time to make it happen.

Final Results

We have just finished putting up the Art Exhibition in the Leper Chapel on Newmarket Rd - it looks fantastic! On Saturday we're preparing all the posters and our craft stall ready for the big day - Sunday October 10th. The weather forecast is perfect - come a join us and discover another side to Cambridge - its not all gloom there are some inspirational stories to hear and sites to visit.

Memorial Garden

The idea was to improve an unused piece of wasteland in the grounds of 222 Vic Rd and turn it into a memorial garden creating a quiet reflective space where the homeless community can remember lost loved ones from the community and from their personal lives. The garden is freely accessible to non-residents of 222 Victoria Rd.  read more
