The services are provided in the community and people can access with ease. Referrals are not always necessary in the first instance. Providing a welcoming and comforting environment the aim is to improve mental health and prevent admissions to metal health hospitals. The community benefits from these and also the knowledge that access to our services can be when they need this most.
People using our services have been able to maintain and stabilise their mental health. This helps to keep their independence and prevents deterioration of their general health too. Many service users have become volunteers to help and support others, by working with them and using their experiences to ensure people get most direct guidance.
From the warm welcome as soon as you walk in, then to be offered a drink of tea/coffee or a soft drink and then be able to discuss the issues and a plan implemented to address these, to the meals that can be purchased. All this makes this a very inviting place and somewhere to come for help and support and build friendship. read more
We have 11 Family Support Scheme day centres that helps to look after people with dementia/alzeimers. This provide a safe and comfortable setting for these users to have a change from their normal settings. Vitally this gives a break for their carers, when they can do whatever they need and knowing that we will look after the person. We need volunteers to help at the centres with basic duties ie activities, sing a longs, making tea/coffee, helping during lunches.
