Chichester District Foodbank provides emergency food parcels to people who are in crisis.
Chichester District Foodbank provides 3 day emergency food parcels to families and individuals who are struggling to put food on the table because of low income or a sudden crisis - redundancy, benefit delays/changes and unexpected bills. Our main foodbank Centre can be found in Chichester, but we also have satellites in Midhurst and Selsey and a mobile (delivery) service in Petworth, which reach out into the rural areas to people who cannot afford to travel into the city.
Why the community needs usChichester District Foodbank only started in September 2012 and has already fed over 4883 people who due to an economic crisis have found themselves with no money for food. In partnership with 104 front line agencies, who hold food vouchers, we have been able to identify those who are in crisis and help support them through a difficult time. This is a community project that has received an amazing amount of public support through volunteering, food donation and financial gifts.
Our impact on the communityWe have established the foodbank Centre in Chichester, and are developing the service in the rural areas of the District to allow easy access to clients who cannot get to Chichester. We have set up a satellite in Selsey and Midhurst and a mobile (delivery) service in Petworth. We have also established a cookery course to help clients who are "Cooking on a Budget" in partnership with Chichester Wellbeing "Health Champions".
