A Cambridgeshire Community Foundation managed Fund

The fund helps where real need exists and statutory funding is insufficient. Small grants go to families that are on low income and facing other factors such as the aftermath of domestic violence, mental health or addictions. Families are referred by support agencies. The grants cover essential items that cannot otherwise be afforded. To cover the costs of managing and distributing the Fund, CCF retains 10% (this includes the Localgiving 3% commission) of donations received into the Fund.

Why the community needs this charity

Although Cambridgeshire is perceived as a wealthy county, there are areas of severe deprivation. Some parents struggle to provide their children with the most basic, everyday needs such as clothing and bedding.

Results and outcomes

A small grant from the Fund provides not only practical help but also much needed care and support from the community - a small sum can make a huge difference.

Latest activities and projects

Raising £10,000

The Children's Fund makes awards of small sums to help children in times of high need. In response to requests from health visitors, social workers, school nurses and other professionals a dedicated panel meets every two weeks to consider requests. They are experienced in their judgements but only able to help if we have the resources to do so. We are therefore keen to raise £10,000 to ensure the Fund has the ability to respond compassionately and swiftly to the most pressing cases. read more
