Advice, English & IT courses, employment & training for the integration of refugees in Southampton.

CLEAR seeks to improve the quality of life of refugees and asylum seekers by providing free advice and supporting people to access local services. We believe in empowerment through education and in practical action to support the settled and developing refugee communities. CLEAR has an established reputation within the city as an organisation working to support the human rights of its clients and to alleviate need and hardship.
Why the community needs this charity

By providing people with access to effective advice services and providing access to English language learning for those most in need, CLEAR addresses both the immediate needs of our beneficiaries and allows them access to learning that is known to give the most impact to their future life chances, namely improving English language skills. Around this core work CLEAR seeks to provide additional learning and opportunites that will help new arrivals to become empowered, contributing citizens.

Results and outcomes

Improving English language skills of clients enables independence and progression in education. Children of beneficiaries have better life chances by having access to crèche/nursery activities. Volunteers and clients develop skills as a route to both social integration and to employment/education.
