Our aim is to influence planning decisions that affect the countryside at local and national levels, and to initiate and support activities that directly improve the countryside and rural communities
Why the community needs usHundreds of our Education Packs and our purpose-built website have helped schools throughout the county with classroom work on litter and food miles. Our Local Foods awards have stimulated the rural economy. Our Town & Country Design Awards have encouraged Northamptonshire projects that protect the countryside and assist urban renewal. Our campaign against Roadside Clutter has led to the removal of many signs that have become eyesores, blighting the countryside and reducing road safety.
Our impact on the communityWinds of change: We have always supported sustainable energy as a means of reducing carbon emissions, which are leading to climate change. However, we are against subsidy farming, which has encouraged speculative turbine towers that will do little to offset the burning of carbon. Onshore wind in lowland England is not an effective source of renewable energy, but it does lead to financial subsidies. As a result of our campaigning, this aspect of renewable energy is now more widely accepted.
We are always interested in talking to people who have a few hours per week available to help us on planning matters and campaigning on countryside issues. Interested? Then please email info@CPRENorthants.org.uk
