Loneliness and lack of social confidence is often present in bereaved clients and others. Bereavement can lead to an inability to concentrate. Reading, including for those who have never really read before, can be a very positive activity whilst alone but by coming together to talk about it also gives a social opportunity. If members become happy to give their opinions in the group it can lead to increased confidence elsewhere too.
Increased confidence for members and perhaps the discovery of a new activity where members will also have the benefit of meeting others socially in a supportive group.
Monday Group offers mutual support, a cup of coffee and a meeting place in central Norwich for older men and women who may not have received help from Cruse but will have suffered a bereavement in the past and know that they are in an understanding environment. We talk to potential new members first in case they would be better to start with our one to one support. Cruse volunteers are on hand to help if required. read more
