Jenny, an Information Line Volunteer helps clients
Consultation has proved there is an overwhelming perceived need for easily accessible information and advocacy services for both disabled adults and their carers within the County Borough of Caerphilly due to a large gap in provision of these services. Can Do are bridging this gap and shaping our services according to what this client group tell us they want. We continually talk to disabled adults and carers, and our strategic plans are shaped by service user involvement.
Through Can Do's Information Service, Advocacy and Volunteering provision, our client group have told us they now have a better understanding of available services; improved quality of life; improved health and emotional well being; increased choice and control; and that they have been allowed to maintain their dignity and respect. Carers report decrease in stress levels and feeling more in control of decisions relating to care and daily living.
If you have some spare time, why not put it to good use, and volunteer! Volunteers are vital to the work of Disability Can Do and we are always looking for helpful and reliable volunteers. Whether you are young or old, male or female, disabled or able bodied, whatever your abilities and no matter how much time you are able to spare there's something for everyone to get involved in. Current volunteering opportunities include Advocacy Chaperones; Marketing & Publicity; Information Line; Events.
