We are run by parent volunteers and offer support for people with Down's syndrome, their families, helpers and carers within the south Manchester area. We also aim to create and develop the conditions which will enable people with Down's syndrome to attain their full potential through the provision of education, training and practical advice to their parents, carers and professionals involved in their care and education.
We support families and carers and anyone else who has an interest in Down's syndrome. We send out a monthly newsletter to over 250 people, including families and professionals, allowing us to pass on information about social events, training and other relevant information. Our social events offer family support and an opportunity for children with Down's syndrome and siblings to make friends. Our Chatterbox club offers both a social event and speech and language therapy.
Our training sessions have educated both parents and professionals in areas such as numeracy, communication and understanding and promoting positive behaviour. Our regular Chattebox mornings have provided a social support for families as well as providing activities such as crafts, yoga, sing and sign and of course speech therapy. Our monthly newsletter continues to inform parents and professionals of the latest news in the Down's syndrome world and of local activities.
We are always looking for volunteers to help with fund raising. Hold a cake sale, wearing green for the day, climbing a mountain, running a marathon, organise a social event, whatever you can do!
