Affordable creative activities for people who are older, disabled, long-term ill or unemployed.
The purpose of our charity is to provide supervised, fully equipped workshop space for people who have need of them by reason of age, infirmity or disablement, economic or social circumstances where existing skills can be maintained, shared and passed on to others less able; new skills learned and new interests gained.
Why the community needs usThe Community Workshop provides a safe, supportive & social environment. People acquire new skills & interests through creative and practical activities that include woodworking, metalworking, welding, stained & kiln-fused glasswork & mosaic. As people share their skills friendships form & networks of support develop.
Our impact on the communityAS people reach retirement age, or become long-term ill disabled or unemployed, feelings of isolation and uselesness are not uncommon. How will they fill their time? Will their skills be wasted? In the Community Workshop skills are maintained, shared and passed on; new skills and interests are gained; talents are explored; aims are achieved. Friendships and networks of mutual support naturally develop. There is meaningful activity & involvement ... and reason to get out of bed in the morning
