We provide theatre activities for local disabled people, we tour our shows in the community.

We run theatre activities for local disabled people. The core aim of Friendly Bombs is to provide local learning disabled people with a true sense of theatre. We always work from classic texts. We produce a piece of theatre from a play once it has been understood and reinvented by our group of actors.
Why the community needs this charity

We take our theatre workshops to visit local schools and day centres and provide workshops and performances for members of the community who might not otherwise be able to access classic theatre.

Results and outcomes

One of the important defining things about Friendly Bombs is that we are not a weekly drama club for a bit of fun. We are a theatre company and we ask members of the group to work hard. We all have fun along the way and make new friends. Working in lots of new venues around the local community we offer members the opportunity to develop in confidence. The members of the group travel with us to perform the play that we produce and are great ambassadors for the learning disability community.

Latest activities and projects

Hamlet

A theatre performance of a new version of Hamlet. In an accessible format for local disabled people. We will rehearse weekly and perform at the end of June. read more

Volunteers Required

We meet weekly to rehearse a play. All of our actors have learning disabilities. Many of them need support with transport. Some of the members need pastoral support during the rehearsal. We also need support from volunteers to operated lighting and sound equipment for the shows and make and maintain props and costumes.
