We have influenced the Council to increase the opening hours of the library. We aim to broaden the range of services available to benefit more users and a wider age range from our community. Our long term aspiration is for a new build multi-function library/community resource on the same site, replacing the existing dilapidated wooden building which now has a very limited lifespan.
Keeping the library alive and vibrant at the heart of our community and increasing its use by groups of all ages and backgrounds is our aim. The library is literally the centre of our village, and we need to secure the future of the library service to West Wight by growing and developing it within the community that it serves. We aim to hold events and activities for divers tastes and age groups to encourage more local people to use and value this great facility.
Your help is needed to rub down and repaint the railings from the roadside to the library. Many hands make light work! Painting sessions are Mondays 1-3 and Thursdays 10-12 (weather permitting). Please bring your own brush and scraper. We'll supply the paints and solvents. read more
Volunteers are needed to join a working party to tidy up and improve the presentation of the flowerbeds at the Library. Donations of plants are also very welcome. Gardening sessions are Wednesday 10-12, weather permitting. Please bring your own tools. We've already had a generous gift of a load of well rotted manure.... read more
