We aim to bridge the gap between generations, to engage with school aged children and highlight some of the issues our elders face whilst building those relationships there will be more respect. The younger members of the community want to offer their support and by doing this they are removing the stigma that has become attached to youths, also elderly people in care homes feel better about themselves as a result of our project and actually have fun helping with their health and wellbeing.
The results of this project are to improve relationships between the elderly and the youths, build a stronger sense of community, improve the confidence and wellbeing of all involved and to offer more support. The Following video is an insight into our project from the Centre for Social Justice Awards 2011. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oz4yWRuv_3I&feature=youtu.be
The Growing Old Together Project is aimed at bringing people together from all generations, we would like the support of additional volunteers to assist with our pamper sessions. This would include attending various nursing/care homes, sheltered accomodation's and community groups across Liverpool delivering our fun filled pamper, quiz and entertainment evenings to the elderly residents.
