We provide a safe environment where young people can take part in positive and enjoyable activities.
Guildford Sea Cadets is part of the UK's largest maritime youth charity.
Cadets go to sea, learn to sail and do adventure training, all on a nautical theme, plus get extra skills to give them a head start in life. We have a commitment to offer positive activities for young people in Guildford.
We have our own qualified instructors that teach young people to sail a dinghy or paddle a kayak. With limited funding it is often a challenge to maintain our fleet of boats, life jackets and equipment.
Why the community needs usWe benefit the communinty by helping the adults of tomorrow to gain life, leadership and team working skills. By providing positive activities we believe that we help young people become positive role models within the community. This can help to prevent and reduce crime for local people.
Our adult volunteers also gain useful skills which they can use within their workplace.
Our impact on the communityFor our cadets and volunteers the outcome is a very real sense of belonging and achievement. All involved are part of our team and part of a community. Watching out for one another, developing self confidence, discipline and the ability to work effectively in a team are just some of the outcomes we aim to achieve. To be passionate and competitive while empathetic, developing expertise in an area or just enjoying life and experiencing a sense of adventure is our real result.
Everything we do rests with the dedication and enthusiasm of the volunteers that instruct, support and maintain our organization. Volunteers make sure Guildford Sea Cadets is where young people can enjoy meaningful activities in a safe environment.
New volunteers are always welcomed to help on a unit committee raising money for running costs to new projects. We are also always looking for people willing to supervise and instruct our young people! Contact us or look on our website for more info.
