H2O Unity consists of committed and enthusiastic local residents passionate about seeing positive change in the area. We aim to: foster a sense of pride in the community and encourage interest in local affairs; provide exciting and innovative opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds; and support individual members of our community who are in need. H2O Unity is working to see Halton Moor and Osmondthorpe as empowered, united, safe and enabled communities.
Halton Moor and Osmondthorpe are disadvantaged areas of East Leeds, registering in the top 3% deprived areas nationally. Both have higher than average levels of benefit claimants and worklessness, and people in the area are reluctant to engage with 'authority'. H2O Unity is a group of local people, working to improve life for local people. We are effective in engaging local people, building on existing links to improve opportunities, quality of life and both individual and community worth.
Link with Halton Moor Sports & Social Club to host Gala days and event nights. Gardening project days - 4 in 2012 delivered by 30 local volunteers. Bike Project - 20 young people at risk engaged on local rides. Bike Project presence, including bike maintenance workshops at Gala Day will attract 150 local people.
We are always looking for committed and enthusiastic local volunteers to help with ongoing projects and events.
In addition, we would love to hear about new ideas that can bring positive impacts to the communities of Halton Moor and Osmondthorpe.
