CLUB 2010
We offer the community an inclusive team sport whereby anybody with or without a disability, family members & friends can play alongside oneanother. This enables everyone to be on an equal par and share the enjoyment of wheelchair basketball. One of our aims is to promote this philosophy within schools, colleges and the community. We provide opportunities to take part in training which is varied and fun and the chance to progress to a regional and a national squad.Sports wheelchairs are provided.
Among those who have begun training with us, several have reached national sporting achievements. Others have regained hope and confidence following accidents and/or illnesses. Most people play for fun & fitness and do so for many years within a sociable environment. People (and parents in particular) feed-back appreciation for our efforts and perceive future paths of potential, life skills and achievements.
We need volunteers for the following: Administration and business skills to promote the Club and gain registered charity status. Secretarial skills to manage administration and computer skills to help with publicity. Entrepreneurial skills to take the sport to education, health and social services and the military. Coaching skills with a view to progressing within the role. Media contacts, table officials and fund raisers. Refreshment assistants to help at league games and photographers.
