The LS14 Trust works with local people in Seacroft/Swarcliffe/Whinmoor to create local opportunities
LS14 Trust is a not for profit organisation, owned and led by the local community of Leeds 14. The Trust has ambitions to revitalise Seacroft and the surrounding locality, creating new opportunities for residents and promoting a sense of pride in the area. It is seeking to develop local ownership of activities and initiatives that promote the area as a vibrant and exciting place to work and live.
Why the community needs usWith local spirit at an all time low and very few community groups The LS14 Trust was set up to tackle some of these issues. We provide a free community resource space, The Digital Lounge providing free internet access and a meeting space for residents. We also work with local businesses, residents associations, local residents and community groups to create and deliver large and small scale community events such as Ramshead Street Party and Seacroft Summer & Winter Galas.
Our impact on the communityWe have over 600 local members who now have access to the internet, these people can apply for jobs, shop online & bid for houses, they are no longer digitally excluded. We have signposted over 150 local residents to local opportunities in volunteering, job opportunities and training. We have delivered 2 large scale community events with over 3000 residents in total attending, bringing the community together and encouraging local trade, enterprise and a sense of pride in their neighbourhood.
We encourage volunteers with various skills but we would also like volunteers to become members and be a part of The LS14 Trust Skills & Knowledge Exchange (a swop shop of skills and knowledge), we look to take on volunteers that can also learn form working with us and other people in our community. We welcome people with various skills from working with young people to accountants & hairdressers.
