Mary Hare Foundation raising funds for deaf education

The Mary Hare Foundation exists to raise funds for the work of the Mary Hare School (registered charity 1048386). We are the largest non-maintained special school in the UK, educating some 240 profoundly and severely deaf children from all over the UK every year.
Why the community needs this charity

Mary Hare enables the local community to be more aware about deaf issues. Local people will be able to know how to communicate better with deaf colleagues. Young people will learn about hearing and how it can be affected by exposure to loud music. Older people will know how to access advice and support for their issues about hearing loss.

Results and outcomes

Pupil achievement and pupil fulfilment are at the heart of everything we do a Mary Hare. Our aim is to ensure that deafness is neither a barrier to attainment nor a limit to career or personal aspiration. Together with friendships that will sustain them throughout their adult life, our school leavers can look back on an education well spent and, more importantly, look forward to prospects for the future that will often match or exceed those enjoyed by their hearing brothers or sisters.
