At present, there is no service like the New Forest Basics Bank, in this area, who supply food and initial help based on one location. The Bank helps those in dire need, in an emergency situation, as well as giving access to a range of support services. It aims to co-ordinate its work with the Open Door and other community projects; a network that can be expanded on and enhanced to include other agencies/partners where and when the need arises.
The Basics Bank year runs from 1st September to 31st August. Since New Forest Basics Bank started back in September 2004, and up to the 31/08/10 they have: Distributed over 3,185 food parcels; helped to feed over 6,837 people / families - including nearly 3,090 children. The Basics Bank covers an area from Fawley to Highcliffe extending up to Ringwood/Fordingbridge/Eastleigh/Totton. It is developing and continuously working with 77 partnerships and has processed over 3,000 referrals.
New Forest Basics Bank was set up in 2004 by "Churches Together" in the Lymington district to help anyone, by providing those who lack the means to feed themselves or their family with food for up to 5 days pending other longer term arrangements. Clients requiring such help may be identified by any of the registered referral bodies. read more
Volunteering is easy just call or email us to have an initial chat about what you would like to do and when. We will then arrange a time for you to visit so that you see the operation in action. Basics Bank provides basic food and hygiene items to the desperately poor. A cuppa is guaranteed and we can take it from there! You can give as much or as little time you want.
