We introduce thousands of people each year to the magic of making theatre through an extensive participation programme. Each year the team creates, coordinates and delivers up to 40 seperate projects with participants aged 0 - 80, at the theatre, in local schools and communities and across the country on tour. Our work reflects the Northern Stage belief that theatre should be truly accessible and that everyone has creative ability.
In the past year we have hosted 'Young Northerner's', 'Spooky Cooking' and 'Young Ranters' as part of the Juice Festival and we worked with young people from Heworth school on a response to our highly successful show 'Apples'. We are currently working with the Federation of Detached Youth Work, The Sage Gateshead, Dance City and lots of young people on 'Urban Alchemy' and continue to support emerging talent through 'Talking Shop', 'First in Three' and our successful summer school.
Thanks to many individuals, local businesses and charitable trusts, every year this programme gives hundreds of children a memorable introduction to the magic of theatre. A donation of £500 will enable a whole class to enjoy this opportunity. read more
