Jennifer spends some time with a neighbour
Our growing network of volunteers supports over 300 people in need in our community - particularly older people - to get their weekly shop, make a GP appointment, to tidy the flat, or just to get out of the house for some respite and company. As well as supporting those neighbours, we provide a mechanism and many enjoyable projects through which young professionals can contribute to their community in a simple, accessible, relevant and relatable way.
Urban isolation and social dislocation is a huge problem in north London, as we witnessed during the 2011 riots. Our projects tackle those challenges head on. Our work centres around the power of human interaction to improve understanding across socio-economic, generational and ethnic groups, and to build trust in communities. We believe the interactions we create have an positive and important impact on the health, happiness and social connectivity of those we support.
Our Film Nights provide the opportunity for older people to get out of the house, socialise with others, and enjoy tea, sandwiches, cake and a new release movie with young professionals. read more
