For adopted children, being placed with a family is often only the start. Many children have experienced trauma, neglect and abuse during the time before they were adopted, and struggle to cope with the legacies of this experience . PACT provides every child it places for adoption with a tailored programme of therapy which help them over come their negative emotions and anger, to form positive relationships with their new families, and to become happy and healthy young adults.
Children who receive support from FACTS are better able to cope with trauma experienced prior to adoption. They are able to form positive relationships with their new families, other adults and their peers, and are better able to concentrate at school and make the most of education. Children are also better socially integrated. Long term, these skills improve their life chances and enable them to become full members of society. FACTS significantly reduces the likelihood an adoption will fail.
PACT provides every adopted child with a uniquely tailored programme of therapy and support to help them settle into their adoptive family and to come to terms with any negative experiences. The programmes vary depending on how old the children are and their particular needs, but can include: -Counselling -Filial Therapy -Music Therapy -Arts Therapy -Life story coaching -Psychotherapy -Theraplay read more
