To provide out of school play opportunities & support for children, young people and their families.
PARC aims to provide play and recreation facilities for children with disabilities in Essex and short breaks for their families and carers. PARC believes that every child has a right to play, and children with disabilities need play opportunities which allow for individuality and ability whilst ensuring safety, freedom and choice.
Why the community needs usPARC provides short break services for over 440 children, young people and their families/carers. We are the only charity in our local area that is open every day of the year, including Saturdays and Sundays with the exceptions of bank holidays in a safe and fun environment. PARC offers services that cover a wide range of activities with children of every age and ability, including pre-school services, activities clubs, youth clubs, sports clubs and weekend and holiday short breaks.
Our impact on the communityPARC is a registered incorporated charity that was set up in 1995 by a group of parents of disabled children in response to a lack of local play opportunities and short breaks. The charity is governed by a voluntary management committee the majority of who have a disabled child that access PARC services. Our capacity has grown by 50% over the last couple of years, identifying a definite need for the services PARC provide.
