An active life in the community

Percy Hedley Foundation transforms the lives of disabled children and adults in the North East.

Percy Hedley Foundation meets the needs of disabled people with cerebral palsy, communication and sensory impairments and complex needs. We are known as a practical charity that provides much needed support and innovative services. The needs, rights and aspirations of our clients are at the heart of all we do.
Why the community needs this charity

We have responded to the growing need for specialist services and with your help could provide many more opportunities for disabled people to play a full and active roll in the community. We currently work with more than 1,000 disabled children, adults and their families across the North East and beyond each year.

Results and outcomes

Many disabled children and adults have learned the skills to become more independent and are able to enter in to all aspects of North East community life. For example, with your support, participants at the Percy Hedley Sports Academy have been shortlisted to play for England in the Powerchair Football World Cup in Paris and our Multi Media unit was asked to produce a documentary about the Tyne Tunnel International Wheelchair Race which was highly acclaimed and premiered at the Tyneside Cinema.
