we aim to be the first choice for advice and advocacy in Peterborough

We aim to: Provide the advice people need for the problems they face Improve the policies and practices that affect people's lives. We value diversity, promote equality and challenge discrimination. Established in 1939 as an emergency war service, the Citizens Advice service has developed into the UK's largest independent advice provider
Why the community needs this charity

Peterborough CAB is a local independent charity that has been serving the people of Peterborough and surrounding areas for over 40 years. We are the only major, exclusively free provider of advice in Peterborough. Our services are used by over 7,000 people each year, often during a crisis in their lives. Most people will use a CAB at some point in their lives and we need to continue to be as responsive to the needs of as many people as possible during these difficult economic times.

Results and outcomes

During the past year, we assisted 6,522 unique clients and dealt with 37,220 enquiries. Our work produced financial gains for clients of £7,250,254 in the year most of which will be spent and reinvested in the local Peterborough economy. Apart from information and advice we are leading strategically in partnership with Peterborough City Council on financial inclusion issues and a focus on reducing child poverty in Peterborough.

Additional interview space

We have insufficient interview rooms to meet demand even though we have advisers waiting to assist people they have to wait for a room to free up. The project will partion a large meeting room to create four additional interview rooms to meet the demand for the advice service. read more
