Sign Language for Families

This project enables a range of people and particularly families, to learn child-friendly sign language for communicating with children.
Why they need our service

We have a waiting list of families, deaf children, siblings and others interested in learning child-friendly sign language. The majority of signing classes are held in college and are aimed at adults learning to communciate with deaf adults. This project encourages people to learn to sign for communciating with children as well as adults.

Plan and expected results

This project involves family-friendly workshops where children can join their families and others to learn sign language. At the end, we expect that learners will have skills to hold a basic conversation in sign language, will be able to use child friendly vocabulary to chat to children and will be able to sign some nursery rhymes. Signing children will feel less isolated as more people sign
