Porch Project Engaging with Youth Culture

To advance for the public benefit, the physical, mental, spiritual and social well-being and education of young people aged 11 to 20 years old who live in Hadleigh Suffolk or adjacent parishes by the provision of premises, hospitality, counselling, education, recreation and other facilities. This provision of recreational and leisure time activities is to be provided in the interest of social welfare, designed to improve their conditions of life.
Why the community needs this charity

The Benefit to the community is that young people, who were involved in anti-social behaviour causing trouble for the police and residents of Hadleigh, now no longer conduct themselves in that manner because we provide a youth service that is free for them to come along to.

Results and outcomes

We have had many young people turn away from anti-social behaviour, fighting, drinking, drugs etc and choose to make positive contributions to their community, which is something that we continue to work on. A Friday regular, Michael, explained how there is nothing much else to do in Hadleigh, but the Porch Project provides a warm place where everyone's made to feel welcome.
