Campaign with DTA for Transgender awareness

Q:alliance supports all Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender people in Milton Keynes.

We aim to provide information, support, assistance and fun for all Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) people who live, work or play in Milton Keynes and Buckinghamshire. Q:alliance was formed by the merging of Lesbian & Gay Link and Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual Youthline. Our direct services include a specialist LGBT youth group, a counselling service which adheres to BACP guidelines and training to external organisations.
Why the community needs this charity

The LGBT community in Milton Keynes is always growing and needs support. We canvas the opinions of local LGBT people and provide representation for LGBT communities on numerous working groups and strategic partnerships. We also promote groups that meet in the area on our website. In addition, if someone wanted to set their your own group we can help them start things up, find somewhere to meet and even signpost them to other services that can provide funding, volunteers and help with promotion.

Results and outcomes

Q:aliance has formed an LGBT Youth Group for 14 to 25 year-olds, called HQMK, which meets in the city once a week. The group is a friendly place where young people can go to talk to each other and do things together socially. Counselling sessions for adults have also helped many individuals live happier and better lives. Our website has also grown to become a primary resource for the LGBT community in Milton Keynes, with information about local groups, civil partnerships and health.
