An independent charity supporting people with learning disabilities, their families and carers

Reading Mencap is a local charity, which aims to provide help and support for people with a learning disability, and their families, in the Reading area. Although we are affiliated to the Royal Society, we are independently funded.
Why the community needs this charity

Provide support to the families and carers of our 400+ members, by means of visits and phone calls and clubs.

Results and outcomes

Reading Mencap provides respite to carers by providing carer breaks (weekend aways; day visits etc.) and weekly clubs for the family members with Learning Disabilities. We also provide support and guidance to carers (from help filling in forms to liaision with Social Services). Support from Welfare Team
