Developing renewable energy schemes in Sheffield.
Sheffield Renewables was set up to harness the skills and enthusiasm of local volunteers to develop, fund, own and operate renewable energy schemes in Sheffield. The schemes will contribute to reducing CO2 emissions in the city. In doing this we hope to show local people the value of reducing energy consumption and the value of renewable energy owned by the local community.
Why the community needs usThe community benefits from cleaner, green energy and will receive information about how they can reduce their own energy bills.
Our impact on the communityWe have now installed two solar PV schemes at Paces Campus in High Green in Sheffield and at Swinton Fitzwilliam Primary School in Rotherham. By February 2015 we had generated 37,000 kWh. We will shortly be working with both communities to show local people how they can reduce their energy bills.
Volunteers and/or directors needed with expertise/experience in the following areas: legal, planning, financial, strategic planning.
