By the provision of an affordable accessible transport service mobility restricted people are able to once again take part in the life of the community and do the following things which without transport they were excluded:- Go shopping, have a day at the seaside, go to work, become a volunteer, meet friends in town, visit family and friends. SCTS is helping to reduce social isolation and exclusion therfore improving the health and wellbeing of an already disadvantaged sector of the community.
The provision of a door to door accessible transport service is acheiving the following results:- Enabling disabled people to remain independent for longer by providing transport which allows them to do such basic tasks as shopping therefore helping them to remain in their own homes for longer and not have to go into a care home. Improving the quality of life of disabled people by providing them with an accessible transport service wherby they are no-longer being prisoners in their own homes.
The Shoppers Helper Service helps mobility restricted people who live alone to come to Slough and do their own shopping. The Shopper Helper accompanies mobility restricted people around the town centre helping with shopping or simply spending time with them so reducing social isolation. People who use the Shoppers Helper are severly disabled, frail and wheelchair users who need the helper to push them around the town centre.
