Whatever young carers do, they are also young people, and there are times when they need extra help and support, or a break from their caring responsibilities. The Young Carers Project at the South & Vale Carers Centre offers this kind of extra support to all young people aged 8-18 who help look after somenone in their family who has a physical illness, a disability, a mental health problem or are dependent on drugs or alcohol.
Our objective is to improve the quality of life for as many young carers living in South Oxfordshire and Vale of the White Horse as possible. We aim to fund 24 trips each year and to progressively reach out to young carers who are not yet aware of the support we offer, but could benefit from it.
The South and Vale Young Carers Project provides independent and confidential support, and activities for young carers aged between 8-18 years old, who live in South Oxfordshire or Vale of the White Horse. We provide: information and advice about how you or your family can get practical or financial help, help to get extra support at school if required, opportunities to meet other young carers, time out from caring through trips and activities and someone to talk to in confidence. read more
