An opportunity for people marginalised in society to demonstrate their skills and talents, raising expectation and aspirations of beneficiaries. A key element of the work of the company is to educate and inform mainstream society that we are all equal and can achieve great things with our lives, given the opportunity. Our theatre work and performances address social issues and break down barriers to communication with mainstream society.
Increased confidence and self esteem. Raised expectations. Improved communication and advocacy skills. Improved physical and mental health as a result of engaging in meaningful and purposeful learning. Improved practical and co-ordination skills. Team work and organisational skills. A sense of belonging and shared interests.
Thalia wants to offer accessible music making opportunities to members. We are looking to purchase 2 electronic keyboards (which offer a rich variety of sounds and affects) and an electronic drum machine. The additional use of the voice using microphones will enrich the sounds available. We are also looking to purchase an iMac with integrated Garage Band software which is fully accessible and will give those with learning disabilities and complex needs an opportunity to explore their talents. read more
