Drama project at The Ark

Helping homeless young people re-build their lives by giving emotional and practical support.

The Ark is one of the main providers of accommodation for homeless and vulnerable young people in Milton Keynes, offering "family style" accommodation for 16 - 18 years olds at Ark House and move-on accommodation in their flats at Two Mile Ash. Working alongside support agencies and professional organisations The Ark helps these vulnerable, high-needs young people by re-engaging them in education and employment, and supporting them to build an independent life.
Why the community needs this charity

The Ark been in operation since 1976 and in that time has helped hundreds of homeless, vulnerable young people to re-build their lives by offering help and support in all areas of their lives. They help with a range of skills from budgeting to basic life skills. Most importantly they listen: offering emotional support and giving positive messages to help build self-esteem that in turn promotes happiness and independence.

Results and outcomes

Under our guidance and nurturing, young people thrive and go on to build successful relationships, have families, get a career and improve their future prospects. Many of our ex-residents return to The Ark to update us on how they are getting on and it is refreshing for us to see the result of our hard work and the commitment from the young people to make their lives better.
