Provide learning disabled people with supported training in hospitality and catering together with a BCOT accredited qualification. Through the operation of a community cafe providing waiter service meals drinks & snacks from locally sourced, fair trade, & free range produce, we aim improve their self esteem and confidence Provide Online trading and basic skills training. To advocate their new skills, qualifications and experience with local employers & transition into mainstream employment.
The relief of learning disabled people in Basingstoke through the provision of employment, volunteering and development opportunities and the operation of a cafe in an effort to build their self esteem, skills, independence and integrate them into mainstream employment. The community cafe at the Dome will provide a youth cafe to local school children, a meeting place for parents and carers, and a lunch club for elderly residents in Basingstoke. The cafe will also be open to the general public.
BTEC accredited training for 10 catering students each year. Online training for 5 students each year. Employment of 10 students for 1 year. 2 lunch clubs per week for the elderly during year one. Youth Cafe 5 afternoons a week by the end of year one. Training of 30 volunteers by the end of year 1.
Volunteers with commercial administration and Marketing experience required to support communications and marketing initiatives.
Also require volunteers with some experience in mentoring or coaching or supporting people with learning disabilities to help students during training in hospitality and catering in busy community cafe:
