The local charity for Wokingham Borough

The Citizens Advice service provides free, independent, confidential and impartial advice to everyone on their rights and responsibilities. It values diversity, promotes equality and challenges discrimination. The service aims to provide the advice people need for the problems they face, and to improve the policies and practices that affect people's lives.
Why the community needs this charity

We provide a free, confidential, impartial and independent service of problem solving information, advice, mediation, representation and support for all members of the community regardless of race, gender, age, sexuality or disability. We help people with their problems in welfare benefits, debt, consumer issues, employment, housing, legal, relationship, tax, utilities, community care, education, health and immigration.

Results and outcomes

We focus on people as individuals and help them to solve their problems and get fair treatment. We offer tailored advice to each client - we don't simply hand out factsheets on debt to clients with money problems. We also exercise a responsible influence on the development of social policies and services, both locally and nationally. We measure the benefits by recording the actual numbers of people that we help and the things that we help them with.
