Wokingham Town Mobility allows otherwise housebound and isolated users to become actively involved in the community. Members view the service as a lifeline enabling them access to shopping, medical and social actvities.
Scheme users remain independent and able to live in their own homes. They experience less social isolation and become more socially active. They can do their own shopping enabling them access to healthy eating and the associated health implications. They are also able to access healthcare rather than needing the healthcare to come to them. Wokingham Town Mobility was established in May 1998. Our annual turnover is approximately £15,000.
We propose to open Wokingham Town Mobility two extra days per week, provisionally Friday and Saturday. This would increase our opening hours from 16 hours to 28 hours each week. The costs involved are all staff related as there are no capital costs involved in extending our opening hours. read more
