The group has helped the community in such a way where people with the illness, find it hard to come to terms with it after being diagnosed, or just to the point where they find it hard to communicate with family and friends about the ir condition, but also the relatives & friends can talk to others & find hwo to talk about the illness without upsetting anyone, as it can have a stressful time for all involved, so knowing that here is someone out there to talk.
Since setting up the group, we have interest from other parts of the UK, on how we set ourselves up & what we do, since then other groups have been set up by people who deal with MS on a daily basis, either as a patient, relative, carer along with their own local Community NHS support teams, to which we have found it very rewarding that we can help others in different parts of the UK to set their own groups up.
Bailey Blackwell is running the Bupa Mini South Run of 2.5 miles in aid of WAMS, as his mother Helen has MS herself and she is on the committee and since coming to the group when we first started just over 3 years ago, she and others have found the support group a good way of support and friendship with others in a similar situation regarding the disability. read more
