YCT staff at a fundraising event
Harlow has significant areas of deprivation - when the most recent Indices of Deprivation were published Harlow was the 3rd most deprived district in Essex and the 9th most deprived district in the East of England. The town has been characterised as having a history of low aspiration, low participation in learning and a poor health record. YCT works with a range of children and young people to improve emotional health and wellbeing helping them to live positive and fulfilling lives.
YCT has firmly established a counselling service in all of Harlow's secondary schools and we are now beginning to provide a similar service in Harlow's primary schools. YCT has been closely measuring service outcomes for young people with a recent evaluation showing significant improvements for young people receiving therapy.Other group based projects have also shown significant improvements in the way children and young people view themselves and their lives.
