Every charity has a story. We make sure they get heard.
York CVS supports charities, social enterprises and voluntary projects in York to do top quality work in their communities. We provide training, advice and guidance in volunteering, finding funding, team building, project planning, and more. Each year we help over 2,500 people find volunteering roles, and support local groups to raise over £1 million. From playgroups to arts festivals, depression support to conga dancing down Parliament Street, we help make dreams reality for people in York.
Why the community needs usYork CVS supports charities, community groups and social enterprises right across the city. We offer advice and training on everything from starting up to getting grants and funding, managing your finances to marketing your services. And we do this, where we can, for free.
Our impact on the communityJean, volunteer manager for a small York charity, attended our volunteer management course: "It's given me lots of ideas about how to support my team of volunteers and made me much more confident about dealing with any problems." For Bikem, 12, it was a life changing moment when a local charity got help to raise the cash to fund a youth group for refugee and migrant young people. "Before I don't go outside school. Sometimes I am lonely. Now I see my friends, not always with my parents."
