Connecting people who care with causes that matter

We promote philanthropy for the benefit of community and voluntary groups, projects and charities across Wales: getting people giving in, and to, Wales.

From youth clubs to arts and crafts clubs, and eco-friendly farms to historical railways, the Community Foundation in Wales funds a wide spectrum of causes. We channel our clients' money to where it's needed, using our local knowledge and research to find out where, and how, charitable giving can make the biggest impact.

Building communities, capital and capacity

Last year we awarded £1.6 million in grants on behalf of our donors and Fund holders, enabling local people to achieve inspiring things in their communities. The 156 groups we funded have over 65,000 beneficiaries, and their work is underpinned by 3,400 volunteers. Currently, our grants directly employ over 50 people in charities and community groups across the country. Our endowment stands at £6.2 million: a long-term source of investment for communities.

Giving to Wales with confidence

The Community Foundation in Wales supports charities and groups of all sizes, and is particularly good at finding excellent grass-roots projects which have few, or no, staff and often fall 'under the radar'. We also fund groups which aren't registered charities, but whose work is charitable and makes a difference.

Our work is quality assured through a robust Charity Commission-endorsed programme, and our track record of community leadership and philanthropy management means that donors can give with confidence.
