London Marathon fundraising page-Chris Byrne
My son Henry is 6 years old and has a progressive hearing loss. He is being treated for a rare condition in children called otosclerosis and will shortly undergo a series of operations. The symptoms of this condition mean that Henry is quite rapidly losing his hearing which is hard for a small person to cope with. Our journey will be a long one and along the way we have had invaluable help from the National Deaf Children's Society (NDCS) in the form of advice and specific support from a family officer. The other charity close to our heart is Cambs Deaf Association (CDA) who have supported Henry and us to learn British Sign Language (BSL), this has given Henry and us an alternate means of communication which is invaluable. Henry is not the only child in his position, there are lots of children and families that continue to need the support from these two great charities which is why I will be running the London marathon on the 26th April to raise money for both of them. Despite this page being set up for CDA please know that the money will be split equally between both CDA and NDCS charities. Please donate if you can, any donation is a valuable one!
