Simeon's Christmas Appeal

A care home full of warmth, dignity and love Simeon Care for the Elderly is one step closer to completion of its new 23 bed care home in Bieldside, Aberdeen. It is hoped that residents will be able to move into the new building by spring next year. Before that can happen, the home needs to be kitted out with all those little life essentials, ranging from a tea pot and flower vases to baking tins and comfortable chairs. To that end, the charity is appealing for people to dig deep this festive season, and make a donation which will allow them to buy a present from their Christmas list below, which will help make their residents truly feel at home. • £10 will buy a tea pot for the kitchen • £20 will buy flower vases for the living and dining rooms • £30 will buy baking tins and trays for the resident’s kitchen • £40 will buy a table lamp for the living room • £50 will buy a toaster for the resident’s kitchen • £100 will buy a comfortable chair for a resident’s bedroom • £500 will buy a collection of coffee tables for the living room • £1,000 will buy a fridge for the kitchen Fundraising manager Gayle Johnston describes life at Simeon as that of a family, with residents freely taking part in everyday activities ranging from setting the table, baking, picking apples from the garden to make apple crumble to picking twigs for the fire and feeding the birds.
